What a certificate does

A Certificate of Insurance (COI) is a one-page snapshot that proves you carry specific coverage. It summarizes your policies for a third party — it doesn’t change your policy.

📄

Proof of coverage

Lists your policies, limits, and effective dates so a client, landlord, or lender can confirm you’re insured.

🛡️

Liability or property

Liability certificates (ACORD 25) cover GL, auto, umbrella, and work comp. Property certificates (ACORD 27/28) evidence building and contents.

✍️

Special wording

Contracts often require additional insured, waiver of subrogation, or primary & non-contributory language — tell us and we’ll confirm what your policy allows.

Certificate FAQs

A COI is a one-page summary that proves you carry specific coverage. It lists your policies, limits, effective dates, and any special wording a third party requires — but it does not amend your policy.

Standard certificates are often issued the same day, and typically within one business day. Requests that need additional insured status or special wording may take a little longer if an endorsement is required.

A liability certificate (ACORD 25) evidences general liability, auto, umbrella, and workers’ compensation. A property certificate (ACORD 27 or 28) evidences building, business personal property, and related coverage — often required by a lender or landlord.

Yes, when your policy allows it. Additional insured, waiver of subrogation, and primary & non-contributory wording depend on your policy forms and endorsements — tell us what the contract requires and we’ll confirm what can be issued.

Certificates are provided as part of servicing your account at no additional charge. If a contract requires a specific endorsement to be added to your policy, any carrier premium for that endorsement would apply.
